Celebrating Our New Endorsed Clinical Psychologists
CCI is pleased to celebrate two of our staff members, Amy Coleman and Melanie Coleman who have recently completed the Clinical Psychology Registrar Program and are now fully endorsed Clinical Psychologists. This achievement reflects many years of advanced training, supervised practice, and a strong commitment to evidence‑based, ethical mental health care. We congratulate our colleagues on this important milestone.
What is a Clinical Psychologist?
A Clinical Psychologist is a psychologist who has completed specialist postgraduate training in clinical psychology and is formally endorsed by the Psychology Board of Australia. Clinical psychologists are trained to assess and treat a wide range of mental health difficulties and are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), which sets national standards for education, ethics, and ongoing professional development.
Understanding Mental Health Titles in Australia
Australia has a diverse mental health workforce, and different titles reflect different training pathways and areas of expertise. Some titles, such as Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, and Psychiatrist, are protected and can only be used by professionals who meet specific qualification and registration requirements and are regulated by AHPRA.
Other titles, such as counsellor, therapist, or psychotherapist, may be used by practitioners with a wide range of backgrounds and training. Many provide valuable support and our community benefits by having access to a diverse range of mental health workers. It is important for consumers to be aware that these titles are not consistently regulated, and consumers are encouraged to ask about qualifications and registration to help choose the support that best meets their needs.
At CCI, we value the contributions of all mental health professions and are proud to support a multidisciplinary workforce delivering safe, high‑quality care.
