GEM Awards and Milestone Celebrations
GEM Awards and Milestone Celebrations
The North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) recently held its annual Go the Extra Mile (GEM) awards to acknowledge the efforts of outstanding staff across the service. CCI were delighted to have our team member Amanda Swan (Senior Clinical Psychologist) nominated as a GEM Award finalist, and she was joined at the celebration by colleagues Melissa Burgess, and Laura Smith (also both Senior Clinical Psychologists). Laura has been a valuable asset to our team at CCI since the service was first established and was invited to celebrate her 20-year milestone of working with NMHS.
Amanda is an outstanding team member at the Centre for Clinical Interventions (CCI). She works part-time at CCI, managing and delivering our group treatment program for Worry and Rumination, as well as seeing individual clients and supervising post-graduate clinical psychology students on placement. Amanda manages a significant workload within her limited hours at CCI. She always prioritises consumer care and clinical responsibilities and is able to do this well whilst also managing the waiting list for the Worry and Rumination group and supervising students. Amanda has considerable expertise in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, with over 20 years of experience working in this area. In addition to her vast experience, Amanda ensures that her knowledge and skills are always current and evidence based. She stays well informed of research innovations, through reading research articles, books and attending professional development events, often in her personal time outside of work hours. Amanda took it upon herself to catalogue and organise the books and resources available to staff at CCI, which has made these resources more readily accessible for clinicians. Consumers frequently provide feedback to our service regarding their appreciation for Amanda’s expertise, as well as her warm demeanour. A recent consumer commented: “Dr Amanda Swan is extremely good at delivering the course content to an individual and can relate to all my issues”. Amanda is a friendly and warm colleague, who is generous in sharing her expertise with other team members.
Congratulations to Amanda on your well-deserved GEM nomination, and to Laura on your 20 years of service at NMHS, from all of us here at CCI!
